After the new Russian e-cigarette tax, the new standard for personal carrying unlabeled products passed the first reading

Russia has proposed similar standards for tobacco products to limit the amount of unlabeled nicotine products shipped within Russia.

Russia has proposed a standard similar to tobacco product restrictions to limit the amount of unlabeled nicotine-containing products shipped within Russia that are not labeled in accordance with Russian regulations. The bill passed its first reading at the plenary session of the State Duma on March 2.

“The distribution of unlabeled nicotine products is a threat to Russia’s interests, first of all because of the low price of such products, which will make people who have never smoked start smoking , and create the possibility of addiction. Of course, this also hurts the economic interests, because it means the loss of taxes and duties.”

The proposal proposes allowing individuals to carry no more than 200 unlabeled heated tobacco products or no more than 50 ml of nicotine-containing liquid products on Russian territory.

According to Mikhail Kizeyev, a member of the Health Care Council, the restrictions will prevent the illegal trade of such products. Some feedback and suggestions have been received and will be considered in the second reading.

Farahov emphasized that the current Russian law stipulates that the unlabeled nicotine products carried by each person shall not exceed 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or cigars, 250 grams of tobacco or more than 250 grams of tobacco products with a total weight of no more than 250 grams. However, heated tobacco products are currently not legally regulated.
