Kuwait suspends 100% tariff on e-cigarettes

Recently, foreign media reported that the Kuwaiti government has decided to postpone the imposition of 100% tariffs on e-cigarettes (including flavored products) until further notice. The tax, originally scheduled to go into effect on September 1 this year, will take effect on January 1, 2023 after a delay.

According to the report: “Suleiman Fahad, Acting Director General of Kuwait Customs Administration, has issued instructions to defer the use of disposable e-cigarettes containing nicotine and pods (whether flavored or not) containing nicotine, as well as e-liquids or cigarettes 100% tariff on bomb packaging.”

Fahd had previously issued a customs instruction to postpone the 100% tax on e-cigarettes and their e-liquids (whether flavored or not) for four months.

According to the customs instructions issued under Letter No. 72 of 2022, the list of the four items includes flavored disposable nicotine e-cigarettes; flavorless disposable nicotine e-cigarettes; e-liquid or gel packs containing flavored nicotine and cigarettes containing flavorless nicotine Oil or gel container.
