No matter what type of e-cigarette device you own, replacing the e-cigarette coil will be part of your daily life. To maintain optimal flavor and performance, you need to replace the coils in your VAPE tank or smoke cartridge system every few days or so.

But, as with many other aspects of e-cigarettes, there is a correct way to replace an e-cigarette coil if you want the best experience — and that’s what you’ll learn from reading this article. So, when is the right time to replace an e-cigarette coil? How do you replace the coil if you want it to produce the best taste and last as long as possible? Let’s dive in and answer your questions.

How do I know when to replace Vape coils

So, when should you replace the Vape coil? The short answer is that when you’re no longer happy with the taste, it’s time to replace your coil. When the coil is past its prime, you may notice the following flavor changes while vaping:

You may find that the taste of your e-cigarette oil starts to lack definition; You can no longer taste the subtle flavors of your favorite Vape juice.

You may find that your vape seems to get sweeter, and the sweetness is exaggerated to the point that it overwrites other vape flavors.

You may notice that your vaping has started to smell burnt. Burnt may taste like deep caramel, or almost like smoke.

You may also notice irritation or tightness in the back of your throat while vape when the wick or heating surface of the Vape coil is badly burned. If you’ve been using the coil for a while and experience throat irritation that you don’t feel with the new coil, it’s definitely time to replace the coil.

The life of an e-cigarette coil is limited, but the fact that flavor quality has started to decline doesn’t mean you need to replace the coil immediately. If you replace Vape coils daily, they can become expensive. If the coil’s taste starts to change — but you’re still happy with its overall performance — you can continue to use the coil until you’re no longer happy with it.

How to make Vape coil last longer

If you are not satisfied with the service life of your Vape coils and want them to last longer, you need to determine what is causing them to burn out. When the Vape coil burns out, there are two possible reasons. Vaping residue contaminates the coil’s heated surface, or the coil’s cotton core is burned. Once you know whether the problem is with the heating surface or the wick, you’ll know what needs to be changed to extend coil life.

How do YOU know why your coils are burned out

To determine the cause of a burned vape coil, look at the top of the coil after removing it from the tank. If the coil heating surface is black, there is smoke oil residue is the need to replace the coil. If the heated surface is still bright and shiny, you may not be satisfied with the taste of the coil because the wick is burned.

How to Vape for maximum coil life

All e-liquid ingredients leave residues on e-cigarette coils, but the sugar-free sweetener sucralose is the one most directly responsible for the coil’s poor life. If vape residue is the cause of your coil burning out quickly, you’ll enjoy longer coil life if you switch to unsweetened vape.

If you use unsweetened e-liquids, your Vape coils can last from days to weeks. If the coil starts to burn after a few weeks of use, this is probably the longest coil life you might expect.

However, if you find that the wick of the coil keeps burning after a few days of use, that is not normal. This could indicate that your e-cigarette has too much power or that the coil is not being replaced correctly. We’ll discuss how to replace the e-cigarette coil in more detail later. However, once the new coil is installed, it is important to ensure that the device is always set to moderate power and that the tank or smoke cartridge is always topped up when vape juice levels start to look low.

Can you clean and reuse your Vape coils?

Did you know that you can actually clean your Vape coils and reuse them? Click the link to see our complete Vape coil cleaning guide. In it, we explain how to clean pre-built VAPE coils and your own coils built for RDA or RTA.

When cleaning vape coils, it is important to remember that cleaning will not solve some problems. This is another reason why it’s so valuable to check the coil when you take it out of a tank or pod system – so you can understand why the coil burns out.

If vape residue is the cause of your coil burning out, cleaning can remove the residue and restore your coil’s original flavor. However, cleaning coils will not repair burnt cotton. If the wick is burned, cleaning will not restore the smell of the coil.

How to replace Vape coil in Pod system

We will continue this article by explaining how to replace vAPE coils in a POD system. The steps required to replace the coils in any pod system are roughly the same, regardless of the specific equipment you use. In this article, we will use Innokin EQ FLTR as an example.

When the container is empty, remove it from the device and turn it upside down.

Twist the base of the pod to loosen and remove it. Note that in some cases this step is not necessary because the coil is inserted directly into the bottom of the pod. If you see the base of the coil when removing the pod from the device, the pod does not have a base that can be unscrewed.

Pull the old coil out of the pod.

Push the new coil into the pod.

Replace the base of the pod and refill the pod.

How to replace coil in Vape tank

The Vape tank is slightly more complex than the Vape Pod, which is one of the reasons pod systems are so popular in the new Vapers, who prefer to keep things as simple as possible. However, if you’re upgrading from a POD system to a full VAPE tank, you’ll find the coil replacement process very familiar. In this article, we’ll use Aierbaita as an example.

When the tank is empty, take it out of the Vape mod and turn it upside down.

Twist the hardware at the bottom of the tank to loosen and remove it. Aierbaita uses a simple push-pull coil replacement system, much the same as most pod systems. If your tank uses a push-pull system, you will see coils in the tank body. In other tanks, coils can be screwed into the bottom of the tank.

If the tank uses a push-pull coil replacement system, pull the coil out of the tank body. If the coil is screwed into the base of the tank, unscrew it from the base.

Install the new coil by pushing it into the tank body (push-pull system) or screwing it into the tank base (screw-in system).

Reassemble and refill the tank.

5 tips for correctly replacing any Vape coil

In the two sections above, we provide general instructions for replacing an e-cigarette coil using the two most popular types of e-cigarette devices (bomb systems and e-cigarette cans). However, as you gain an e-cigarette experience, you will quickly learn that the basic instructions for replacing an e-cigarette coil are not as important as learning how to properly replace the coil for optimal flavor and coil life. Use these five Vape coil replacement tips to ensure you get the best tank or smoke grenade system experience every time.

Be sure to replace the coil when your tank or pod is empty. Opening the tank or pod would break its internal seal and cause any electronic liquid in the tank to spill out.

To maintain flavor quality, it is best to rinse and dry the jar or pod each time the coil is changed. Rinsing removes old electronic liquids that may cause flavor contamination. It also helps remove dust and lint that can block airflow.

Before installing the new VAPE coil, be sure to place a little electronic liquid on the top and side wick openings of the coil to prepare for the new VAPE coil. The starting coil helps ensure that the wick is fully wet when you start vaping, which helps prevent the wick from burning.

After replacing the coil and filling the tank or pod, let it sit for a few minutes to give the electronic liquid time to fully penetrate the wick.

If your e-cigarette device has adjustable power, lower the power level before using the new coil for the first time. Give the coil time to run in before slowly increasing power.
